SENIOR HAITIAN DELEGATION TO VISIT TCI FOR TALKS WITH THE TCIG
PROVIDENICIALES, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS—THURSDAY, AUGUST 23, 2007
PRESS RELEASE
The Haitian Ambassador to Nassau, His Excellency Louis Harold Joseph, and a delegation of senior Haitian officials will be visiting the TCI this week at the invitation of HE The Governor to attend talks with the TCI Government on 23 and 24 August. The primary aim of the meeting is to strengthen links between our two countries in the fight against illegal immigration and the smuggling of illicit drugs and firearms.
The discussion will focus on building a closer relationship and improving co-operation between the Governments and law enforcement organisations of TCI and Haiti, to explore ways in which they can work together more closely to deter, capture and prosecute those responsible for this dangerous trade.
It is hoped that this meeting will establish a closer, more regular dialogue between the two Governments and help to prepare for higher-level talks soon.
Participating in the meeting on the TCI side will be HE The Governor Mr Richard Tauwhare, the Acting Premier the Hon Floyd Hall, the Minister of Home Affairs the Hon Galmo Williams, the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs Mr Derek Been, the Commissioner of Police Mr Edward Hall, the Collector of Customs Mr Terry Selver and the Acting Director of Immigration Mr Alonzo Malcolm.
The Haitian Delegation will comprise H.E. Louis Harold Joseph the Haitian Ambassador to The Bahamas, Mrs Jeanne Bernard the Coordinator of the National Office of Migration, Mr Paul Cadet Cabinet Member of the Secretary of State for Public Security, Mr Fortune Dorlean Director of Legal Affairs, Mr Greny Antoine Counsellor responsible for consular affairs and Ms Italia Watkins-Jan Executive Assistant to the Ambassador.
