Spirit Airlines Dedicates its Newest Airbus A319 to Turks & Caicos Islands
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Spirit Airlines, the leading low cost carrier to the Caribbean, today proudly launched its twelfth Airbus A319 aircraft. In a private ceremony, the airplane was named “Spirit of Turks & Caicos Islands”.
“We can’t wait until next week when we start service to the Turks and Caicos Islands,” said Barry Biffle, Chief Marketing Officer of Spirit Airlines. “We will be serving both Providenciales and Grand Turk and we couldn’t think of a better way to kick-off our new service than by dedicating our newest airplane to this island paradise. With this start of service, Spirit will offer 22 non-stops from our hub at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, including 12 in the Bahamas and the Caribbean.”
"What a lovely honor it is to have Spirit Airlines dedicate a new plane to our islands. We are most appreciative and wish Spirit Airlines wonderful success," remarks Hon. Floyd Hall, Minister of Finance and Deputy Chief Minister of the Turks & Caicos Islands.
Spirit’s Airbus A319 aircraft seat 138 passengers, eight in Spirit Plus business class and 130 in its comfortable Coach class with all leather seating throughout the cabin.
